The unglamorous staff grind: Lenz-management, urine screens, and the Log

• When: iterative/habitual across the residency window (Lenz in residence since the summer); the Glynn Log entry precedes the 6-Nov morning that reports it.
• What: The background Johnette is staff routine. She and Gately "have had to make a nightly routine of telling the other residents that Lenz is teaching them valuable patience and tolerance" — smoothing over Lenz's compass-and-napkin seating rituals. She takes urine screens, where Lenz has beaten the E.M.I.T. screen with his Texas catheter exactly twice, "both times when Johnette F. took the urine and he could embarrass her into turning away." And she keeps the House Log: when Doony Glynn taunts the handless, footless Burt F. Smith, it is Johnette Foltz who writes him up — three days Full-House Restriction and a week's extra Chore — describing the offense, in her own orthography, as 'XSive Cruetly.' Structurally she is half the House's supervisory sensorium.
