Canada, under Provincial pressure, disowned him as an emigrant and revoked his Québecois and Canadian citizenships; his father can no longer legally watch him play. This is the exile that makes Wayne, in deLint's later pitch, "a more dramatic story, geopolitics, privation, exile" (event 15) — and the near-text seed of the allegiance crux (event 22).
