• What: A legless, fleur-de-lis-masked A.F.R. operative in a scoop-fitted wheelchair snatches the WYYY student engineer off a Public Gardens hillside into a white van — the A.F.R.'s hunt for Madame Psychosis/Joelle as access to the Entertainment's Master. What the engineer knows of her (from Molly Notkin's tape-retrieval visit to the station): she is in long-term Treatment, in "only half a house" in a low-rent part of metro Boston. An M.I.T. source identifies the Entertainment's "probable performer's" last employment — the WYYY radio station ("pronounced Weee"), where she wore the U.H.I.D. veil; the engineer is interrogated and made the first field-test Subject of the found Entertainment copy (Broullîme's orthopedic-saw digit-price experiment).
