• What: In the pre-exhibition locker room Struck applies astringent to areas of his jaw — still tending the acne, to the last. In the preceding days he and Freer have keenly anticipated and kept F.A.A. tabs on the visiting Quebecois Jr. Wightman girls, on the theory that the normally sequestered visitors would be available for broadening intercultural relations. The book's closing image of him: grooming and scheming, mid-pack and incorrigible.
