The last shot: the move west and the Man from Glad

• When: the move is announced for "this spring" in the Winter-1960 monologue; the Glad contract runs "for two years" somewhere inside "the B.S. 1960s" (the one other stamped scene, event 8, falls Winter 1963, Sepulveda CA)
• What: The monologue's buried headline: "did your mother tell you we’re moving? That we’re moving back to California finally this spring?" — "I’m harking one last attempted time to that celluloid siren’s call, I’m giving it the one last total shot a man’s obligation to his last waning talent deserves." What the last shot lands is not pictures but advertising: "He was the first of two actors to portray the Man from Glad," symbol and spokesman for the Glad Flaccid Plastic Receptacle Co. of Zanesville, Ohio's Individual Sandwich Bag Division — filmed in a mock car interior "receiving an emergency radio summons to some household that was having a portable-food-storage problem," all in white ("In his vaguely medical uniform of all white, he carried an air of authority and great evident conviction"), earning "what I always gathered was an impressive salary" and, "for the first time in his career, fan mail, some of which bordered on the disturbing," which he read aloud dramatically at night over a nightcap (scene 099). The 071 aside files the whole California chapter under one label: "a sad third career as the Man From Glad" (see Dating notes on the career count). The family lives on a treeless subdivision hillside in Sepulveda; the wig, corset, and orange television makeup he wears home from the studio are the costume he still has on through all of event 8.
