• What: Physical facts: Hal is "the only extant Incandenza who looks in any way ethnic" (Pima-tribe cheekbones inherited via JOI), "sleek, sort of radiantly dark, almost otterish," blue-but-dark eyes, unburnable, and "worries secretly that he looks half-feminine." His left ankle "is faintly swollen and has a blue tinge," and he keeps flexing it — a chronically weak/bad ankle. Compare the YG frame (event 119 region), where Hal notes "the bad ankle hasn't ached once this whole year"; here in YDAU it is actively swollen.
