• What: Eugene ("Fax") Fackelmann had dropped out of the Lynn MA school system at around age ten. He met the North Shore bookmaker Whitey Sorkin through the same eczematic, gamble-happy pharmacist's assistant through whom Gately had first met Sorkin — the same assistant who reappears at the finale carrying the doctor's bag (event 15). By the crew years Gately was already renamed: no longer "Bimmy" or "Doshka," he was "Don," nicknameless.
