• What: The division of labor on Incandenza's shoots, assembled from three tellings. Joelle's interview account fixes Leith's department in five words: "Leith was cameras, the son was lenses." (Her phrasing — "His other son carried them in a special case" — leaves the lens-carrier unnamed; the travel montage of scene 071 shows Mario carrying the lenses, so the two accounts mesh, recorded per-source.) On location, young Mario tags along "helping D. Leith out with Continuity when Incandenza wanted to preserve Continuity" — Leith as the boy's hands-on production tutor. And Hal's narration preserves their joint on-set craft with Himself's amateur casts: "he wanted them simply to read their lines with an amateur’s wooden self-consciousness off cue cards Mario or Disney Leith would hold up well to the side of wherever the character was supposed to be looking."
