The misadventure at Himself's funeral — the gull and the fly

• When: 5 or 6 April YTSDB (2004), St. Adalbert, Nouveau Québec (five clicks west of the Great Concavity)
• What: At the graveside service a circling gull scored a direct hit on the shoulder of Tavis's blue blazer, and when he opened his mouth in shock "a large blue-bodied fly flew right into his mouth and was hard to extract." Several persons laughed; "The Moms probably laughed hardest of anyone." A small indignity that has become family shorthand for Tavis's whole hapless-yet-loved public presence.
