• What: Avril's grammar-school reputation carries a shadow: her "involvement, however demonstrably nonviolent, with certain members of the Québecois-Separatist Left while in graduate school" put her name on the R.C.M.P.'s notorious surveillance list ("Personnes à Qui On Doit Surveiller Attentivement"). Years later Steeply/B.S.S. reach the same file: the Auteur's widow is "a Québecer, Rémy, from L'Islet county," with "three years spent on Ottawa's 'Personnes Qui On Doit' list," floated as a possible link to the medical attaché who received the Entertainment.
