AA's Twelve-Step method as a proper noun — the thing Ennet House residents are told to work. A speaker who commits "the subtle but cardinal Message-offense of appearing to deprecate the Program rather than the Self" loses the room (p. 367); Gately comes to think "the Program might be more like deprogramming than actual washing" — un-brainwashing, "considering the psychic job the Disease’s Spider has done on them all" (p. 369).
