The parable is literalized in the landscape behind it: the "Barges of Land" move waste through the night, "much... shipped north for displacement-launch into the Convexity" (some "vectored into the Sonora region of Mexico" — both neighbors get it). While Marathe argues the ethics of saddling the neighbor with your waste, the actual machinery of doing so is visible from the shelf, and the Habitant can's "Veuillez Recycler Ce Contenant" makes the irony exact: the Québécois product politely asks you to recycle the container the U.S. would rather launch north. The metaphor and the fact share a frame.
