The Old World observer's exact register on the new polity: not hatred but the mix of comedy and dread the theme keeps eliciting from foreigners (cf. 007's legation). "O.N.A.N.ite" is used as a settled adjective for a national temperament, the political reconfiguration already sedimented into everyday character.
