No Troy is the anthology's purest image of cartographic power as lethal: Troy NY "bombard[ed]... by miscalibrated Waste Displacement Vehicles" and then, crucially, subjected to "its subsequent elimination by O.N.A.N. cartographers" — the city not merely destroyed but erased from the map by the same office that draws it. The bureaucratic verb ("elimination") does the killing; to be un-mapped by O.N.A.N. is to have never existed. (The "elimination of a map" as death-idiom belongs to the maps-and-territory theme; landed here is the political fact of a mapping authority that erases citizens.)
