Hal supine: Accomplice!, the blizzard, Weston (p. 955)
And then out of nowhere it returned to me, the moving thing Himself had said to Orin.
Context
The p. 952 block (in the supporting section) releases — involuntarily, "out of nowhere," only after Hal had accepted the failure and moved on, per the involuntary-return law his own "specular" retrieval states two pages earlier. What returns is the one genuinely open conversation of Himself's life — and even recovered, it's secondhand: a memory of Orin telling him what Himself said. Hal's tenderest access to his father arrives third-hand, through the brother he trusts least.
