Joelle, veiled at Notkin's party and headed for the bathroom to kill herself with Too Much Fun, thinking about JOI's last film of her face and his microwave suicide — and the narration stops mid-grief to run the Less→Fewer check on itself. That's the M.G.M. crusade (n.110's campaign) internalized: Avril's prescriptivism operating inside the free-indirect thought of someone who only ever orbited the family.
