Antitoi Entertainent: the register as inventory

The register war reduced to retail inventory. The Antitoi shop racks "ironic postcards, and unironic sentimental greeting cards as well" side by side (plus "hip postcards" in the packed stock) — the entire irony-sincerity spectrum flattened into two adjacent product lines, the hip and the heartfelt as interchangeable SKUs. It is the theme's driest joke: in the marketplace the two registers are not opposed philosophies but merely two things you can sell, the ironic to one customer and the sincere to another, the culture's deepest register-anxiety priced and shelved.
