JOINT SESSION) already read exactly like the tabloid burlesque printed beside them. The register distinction between real news and fake news collapses, and its collapse is the dark point: a public sphere whose genuine events are already self-satirizing offers the parodist nothing to exaggerate. When the President speaks like a lounge act, the headline montage doesn't need to invent — it only has to arrange.
