Context
Joelle's own on-set verdict, secondhand: the purportedly lethal film is "depressive conceits strung together with flashy lensmanship and perspectival novelty" — she'd performed in it, never seen it, and "had a hard time believing it was even entertaining, let alone lethally entertaining". The performer's dismissal ("flashy lensmanship") names exactly the elements — the special lens, the perspectival crib-trick — that every technical theory of the film's lethality (098's holography, 178's auto-wobble) keeps landing on.
