The Antitoi shop and the A.F.R.
The visual bulk of the shoproom of Antitoi Entertainent is devoted to glass: they have set curved and planar mirrors at studied angles whereby each part of the room is reflected in every other part, which flusters and disorients customers and keeps haggling to a minimum.
Context
The apparatus first: the Antitoi storefront ("Antitoi Entertainent" as written — the sign's own spelling) is a room built of angled mirrors, every part visible from every other part — a total-surveillance optical architecture installed by the two least dangerous separatists in the book, as retail psychology. The brothers cut and mount glass in the back room; glass is their trade. The rig is the scene's Chekhov instrument: a room in which nothing should be able to move unseen, about to be entered by men who move below its sightlines.
