Mikey, the AA speaker, and his kid
Because you know how the judge said I got to get one of them’s fucking consent to even see my kid. You know what I’m saying? Because of the restraining order on the old Mikey, from before. I got to get their permission.
Context
Mikey's whole relation to his son runs through paperwork. A judge, a restraining order, a hundred-meter radius, his mother and sister as court-appointed gatekeepers who have to phone each other to "consent" before he can take the boy bowling — his fatherhood has been converted entirely into a permissions system, and the AA share is really the story of that system overloading his temper until "the old Mikey" comes back out on the porch. It's the theme's most bureaucratic panel: love that can only reach the child by clearing a chain of approvals, and a father whose sobriety and "spiritual condition" now hang on whether he can stay calm enough at a screen door to be allowed past it. He can't; he grabs his balls at his mother and sister and gets his consent revoked on the spot.
