C.T. at the Logan pickups

quote

in the car up to Enfield Mario’s uncle would keep up an Opheliac mad monologue of chatter that would get Himself’s poor teeth grinding so bad […] there’d be grit in the throw-up […] white dental visible grit, from all the grinding

Context

The note pins a Hamlet lexeme directly onto Tavis and stages the uncle grinding the dead-king-to-be down in real time. Meeting Himself and Mario at Logan after a filming trip — Himself already "damp and pasty," pockets clicking with pill bottles — C.T. keeps up "an Opheliac mad monologue of chatter" the whole ride to Enfield, and the effect on the father is physical: his teeth grind so hard from the uncle's relentless babble that he vomits visible dental grit. It's the succession-frame rendered as bodily attrition — the administrator-uncle's ceaseless talk literally wearing the founder's teeth to powder — and the word "Opheliac" applied to Tavis folds the usurper and the mad-monologue into a single Hamlet-keyed image. The uncle talks; the king-to-be grinds himself away.
