Troeltsch sick in bed — "It’s literally ‘daydreaming,’ sick, the kind…"
It’s literally ‘daydreaming,’ sick, the kind of incomplete fugue you awaken from with a sort of psychic clunk, struggling up to sit upright, convinced there’s someone unauthorized in the dorm room with you.
Context
The fugue's exit-signature: waking convinced of an unauthorized presence in the room. The book cuts straight from this sentence's paragraph to the face-in-the-floor nightmare (019) — fever-fugue handing off to full nightmare with no relief — and the unauthorized-presence feeling goes literal with JOI's wraith 750 pages later.
