Context
On JOI's late shoots, the theme's two systems share a motel hallway: unveiled, unmistakable Mario carries soda to veiled, "apparently mute" Joelle — the boy who hides nothing tending the woman who hides everything, neither knowing the other's name. (The Big Red is her Kentucky childhood drink; Mario never connects the intern to the Madame Psychosis he loves on the radio.)
