Context
Gately narrating his own Staff role out loud — the professional face he nods and smiles behind, the Meds Log entry he'd write on a resident who won't walk through her fear — shows the recovery institution from the labor side: the Staffer is a recovering addict himself, working the graveyard desk, translating a resident's evasions into the House's clinical shorthand while privately going finger-around-the-temple. The program runs on people barely out of the cage themselves.
