Day naming the exact recursion in Gately's answer: told not to analyze whether the Program is sound, he points out that "don't analyze it" is itself one of the Program's claims — a doctrine that meets a question about its axioms by invoking an axiom against questioning, which he hears as something totalitarian, a Grievance disallowed because Petitioning is a priori interdicted. The critique lands cleanly and the scene, again, lets it; Gately's honest bafflement ("I'm about to get fucking lapped here") is not a rebuttal, and both men know it.
