The emotional truth under Day's logic-chopping, and the entry the whole debate turns on: what the rooms diagnose as Denial or ingratitude is, from the inside, horror — the horror of a cultivated man discovering he may actually have the Disease, sincerely wanting the treatment that has saved millions to work, and finding it riddled with what look to him like idiot fallacies.
