God doesn't require that you believe first
That AA and NA and CA’s ‘God’ does not apparently require that you believe in Him/Her/It before He/She/It will help you.
Context
The Program's whole epistemology in one clause: the Higher Power does not ask for belief as a precondition of help. It is the exact answer to every rationalist resident's objection — you needn't understand or credit the thing for it to work — and it reframes surrender as something you do before, not after, you're convinced, which is the doctrine's most counterintuitive and load-bearing move.
