A long inventory of the snapshots papering an E.T.A. wall: players frozen mid-stroke, handstands and clay-slides, team vans and tournament stands, the Lung under assembly, a cook with an arm-sized pestle — "chaotically placed," sun-faded from being "looked at so often they're pale" (p. 1034), and tellingly containing "None of Mario or Orin" (p. 1034).
